The Boone and Crockett Club issued an official statement on the Johnny King Buck controversy late Wednesday, stating that it will not panel-score the potential World Record typical whitetail.
In its official statement, B&C hinted that Deer & Deer Hunting contributor Duncan Dobie provided misinformation in his article. D&DH stands by Dobie's reporting and attributions. Dobie, who is the former editor of North American Whitetail Magazine and has more than 25 years of professional journalism experience, has followed the King Buck story for more than two years. In doing so, he conducted hours of interviews and follow-up interviews with countless individuals on both sides of this issue, including many B&C and Wisconsin Buck & Bear Club representatives.

Behind the scene shenanigans is all I'm gonna say--truly a shame that one man is blocking this because of an over-inflated ego!

I think if there is any chance that it could be the New World Record then they should Panel-Score the deer! If Buckmasters and SCI say it scores 215 then that is enough reason for B&C to Panel-Score it!

I haven't read anything about the issue and could care less.
That is one heck of a buck and i would be happy to put one near that good on the ground this fall.
Maybe a little common sense all the way around might help. If it is a world record it sure is a beauty. If it isn't a world record it sure is a beauty. I hope the guy who downed it gets a bigger one. Just my two cents on a Friday the 13th.

The King buck, while an exceptional specimen, was determined to have an abnormal right G3. This was confirmed, independently, by four highly experienced Boone and Crockett Club Official Measurers. Each of the scorers involved in this examination were senior measurers with both Pope and Young Club and Boone and Crockett Club. They have served on numerous Judges Panels for both organizations. After the four measurers made their determination, the trophy purchaser/promoter questioned the decision. Jack Reneau reviewed the file with other Big Game Records staff and the Records Committee members who also all concurred with the ruling.

That's what it is, it's the G-3 on the right.
The B&C rules are clear, they cannot score it the way people WANT it scored any more than the NCAA could add another 2 seconds time to a game so a basket made by one team would count.
No mater what that is a gerat buck and I would love to have him, still rules are rules.

To me the odd part about it is that is the official new Buckmaster’s Perfect Category World Record at 219 5/8 inches and Safari Club International #2 All Time Record Deer at 226 6/8” But B & C only scores it as 180 1/8.
