Note that it says "place," not "possess" - that could be the key word right there.

Basset, interesting. Wonder how a judge would interpret that? There is definitely something wrong with this though. Maybe a record of when, how many were kept, etc. needs to be kept to cover all bases. From the TWRA law enforcement, the possession limit maximum is twice the daily bag limit, NO EXCEPTIONS (other than opening day when the possession limit is the daily bag limit), and includes what you may give away as far as the letter of the law goes. That also means until the game you give away is consumed, it is part of your possession limit.

Similar laws in Missouri prohibited keeping venison in one's freezer past the following September. But, as hinted at, this law was only enforced when needed to aid in the conviction of a known poacher.
