I would bet a majority of hunters and fishermen in the state of Tennessee are lawbreakers and do not realize it.
The following is TCA 70-4-204
(a) (1) No person, firm or corporation shall place in cold storage at any one (1) time more than two (2) days' bag or creel limit of any wild animals, wild birds, wild fowl, or game fish.
(2) No person shall place in commercial cold storage any wild animals, wild birds, wild fowl, or game fish without first filling out and filing with the storage company an affidavit stating that the same has been lawfully killed or caught and is stored for the affiant's own use and benefit and not for sale. No person, firm or corporation engaged in the business of cold storage shall receive any wild animals, wild birds, wild fowl or game fish, unless such affidavit has been made by the person storing and delivering to the storage concern. The storage concern shall post the affidavit upon a book kept for this purpose, which book shall be open at all times to the executive director or officers of the wildlife resources agency.
(b) A violation of this section is a Class C misdemeanor. Each wild bird, wild animal, or wild fowl or game fish stored in violation of this section is a separate offense.
There is so much wrong with this, from what I have been told by the TWRA even if you give a limit away, that limit is still held accountable to you until it is eaten. What about those of us who kill over 6 does per season? We are over the possession limit when we kill the 7th doe by the letter of the law. There is something wrong with this. I think if you only get one limit per day, you should be able more than 2 limits in your freezer, whether fish, dove, quail, deer, or whatever.

Yikes! Allegedly somebody I know might have said they found an old pack of back straps from 07' buried in the back bottom of the freezer last month.
Said anonymous person is going to have to quit dating them in case they wind up with a couple odd bags of meat lost in the freezer from different seasons.
I guess they could always go back and look up the kill tags to make sure it was legit.

I bet this is one law that constantly is overlooked and not enforced... it could definitely use some revising for sure.

I may be wrong, but I think that this law is not meant for the normal person. IMO, it is for the poachers or repeat offenders and something that TWRA can use to go back in time and still charge them for. For example, a lot of times the TWRA may know that someone is poaching or keeping over their limit, but can't charge them unless they are caught in the act. When they finally catch this person and they have more than two limits in the freezer, then it is sort of like going back in time to charge them for their past acts. Again, JMO, but I don't think that they are going to come check people's freezers for limits just to be doing something. If I am wrong, then yes it needs to be revised because I know several perfectly legal people that could get a ticket.

In the code it states "commercial" freezer. So I think the one at your home is safe.

I have heard of this law being enforced in other states but only when it comes to prosecuting a poacher. I would have been in trouble when I lived in Louisiana. We would always fill the freezer with fish file's to last the year.

From SCN, it applies to your home freezer and that includes the part if you give game away, it also needs to be eaten before you allowed to keep anymore game legally.
