Does anyone have any links for rankings of states in terms of hunting costs?

IIRC, TN is the highest in the nation for resident license fees.

Don't worry guys. I'm working on a plan to drive down the cost of Deer Meat this year. LOL. Some of my expenses: License:$135 Lease:$150 Shotgun:$749 Ammo:$50 Ground Blind:$299 Used 4wheeler:$2500 Camo:$400 Boots:$149 Crossbow:$549 Bolt:$30 Muzzleloader:$499 Muzzleloader supplies:$50 Skinning knife:$50 Scent-a-way:$20.I'm thinking 5630 dollars to get started doing what I love. Now I'm thinking at 2.99 a lb, and guesstimating 55lbs of meat per deer,I need to kill about 34 deer in the next let's say 10 years. That's 3.4 deer a year. I guess there are more costly hobbies. God Bless Deer Hunting.

If you can't afford to deer hunt in tn. then I suggest you take up birdwatching...lol.

Back in the "not so good " old days, I had to do what i could afford, and deer hunting was one of them. I still find it very resonable and I do not care what others pay in other states.

if you do, move...lol.

Yeah, it's not the cheapest. But the hunting's good enough that I know a man that drives 650 miles to hunt in TN. \:D

let me see... licenses $136 shotgun $200 ammo $65 camo $40 gas money $23,219.54 ......... one dead turkey so far, a few squirrels, and plenty more to come in the upcoming months. It's worth the money for the experience, not just the meat.

Well where do we draw the price line.... you still going to pay to hunt if license prices reach $300-$400?

So I guess all of us that are fed up with the way the government is flushing this country down the crapper we should all just move to a different country?

What happens to license prices when fewer and fewer people hunt for price reasons or others... money has to come from someplace...

I agree. Modern hunting is a expensive pursuit, but everybody needs something to be into.

Don't quite agree ;\) give up your camo, rifle, scope, scent blocker give up your 4-wheeler, muzzleloader, cross bow, carbon and aluminum arrows, high dollar boots and clothes, and take up an old recurve or long bow wi blue jeans and a plaid shirt and hunt for awhile. You may be surprised how fun it is! Not to mention how much you will learn \:\) minimal cost but the hunt priceless!

Good point. Im affraid if hunting becomes too expensive that our kids will turn to other less constructive things such as drugs. Especially in more rural areas where there are few things for them to do anyway... I also feel like there has to be money to regulate what we have. So, I guess I should just pray that we find a balance so that our kids futures are secure.

Also, make no mistake about it. I LOVE hunting, and I LOVE Tn. All I'm saying is that my wallet proves that. I'm just blessed enough to have a means to support my passion. Which is not the case for everyone. GOD BLESS HUNTING IN TN.

Cant argue. I like your style. Especially the recurve. I've been eyeballing them for a while now. For some reason, makes me think of ALONE IN THE WILDERNESS. (A great documentary). I'm even thinking a step further and would like to look at MAKING a bow out of wood off my own land. Wouldn't that be sweet. If only I had the time to get into everything that interests me. Like: camo, bows, shotguns, 4 wheelers, etc........
