what would you do? Obviously you'd move what you could.
Just wondering. Reason I ask: I know folks have had to know for days the water level was going to rise. But, then the question always is: How high? I give em that. However, I see pictures with expensive equipment, like dump trucks, concrete trucks, school buses, etc going under water.
Why doesn't the owner(s) tow this stuff out?
Also, heck....If if lived in a mobile home, I might even try to get some of my buds/family members to pull an all nighter and get some house jacks and stack that baby up on a few more concrete blocks.
I realize this is beyond some people's ability, but anyway.

why would they be stupid enough to build in a flood plain in the first place, unless the finish floor is at least 1 foot above the 100 year flood level

I'd just let it trap me in my house so I'd have to be rescued that way I could be on the news to blame Obama on national TV

Got a 2001 F150 with about 190K on it. I'd probably leave it behind and get some insurance $$$ for it.

Buy or build a boat, take my most wanted items and survival equipment and float it out.... and make sure the boat has a roof to keep out the rain. I bet I could live that way for a few days and actually find some enjoyment (in a way). Then it would suck when the water went down and all the damage would have to be cleaned..

This is one subject that really can burn me up.
It was on the news for days and ever a couple WEEKS about how much flooding we were getting in Illinois, Missouri and here in Kentucky. We were showing pictures and giving reports about how close to the 1937 flood the water was. We ever blew up leeves in Missouri to take some pressure off the rivers, that knocked out over $100 million in crops.
BUT
Still people downriver next to the river ask how high.
Look at Memphis, don't mater the people of Shreveport, New Orleans, Vicksburg are still asking, how high?
This is not a tornado that just happened in a few seconds or minutes but a flood that has been reported for weeks.
