I have never seen a garter snake with those colorations.
My first guess was going to be pine snake, but with that being said, I have never seen a pine snake in person.

Cool pics. Both would still be alive. But if the rattleheadedcoppermoccasin in the second pic pushed the issue without provocation, I might consider changing my mind. No need to kill them if at all possible.

Late last summer, they killed a rattlesnake at work. No reason to kill it, but a big deal about it being in the building. Still could have been caught and relocated. It was in Alabama where snakes are not protected.

I get alot of those small snakes at my house, not poisonous, I asked my friend who is a w ol ldlife biologist he said either a king or a mole snake I think. They get in my basement. Actually found one last bow season inside my bow case which was left open in the basement!
