Me and the Family went camping at Indian Boundry last week and while we were there we went for a drive up the North River. We got out to fish a little and me and my 5 year old walked down the trail to the river. my wife came behind us about 2 or 3 mintues later and all but stepped on this guy. me and my daughter didnt even see it when we walked through.

Is that East TN? I thought there were no cottonmouths here? I don't know where Indian Boundry is so....
its in the Cherokee National forest. thats not a cotton mouth. its a copper head.

The head is throwing me off on this snake... looks like a water moccasin but the head looks like a copperhead? Hmmmm

Never seen a copperhead that was that color... of course never seen one in East TN only in SC. All of those were the regular copper color. Strange.

Wow !! I have never seen one that dark in color on the body, his head definitely gives it away though......Glad no one stepped on it but you got a good picture !!

I really dislike copperheads. I was bitten by one several years ago. I have never seen one that dark, all the ones I have seen have all looked like the one Hogbear posted.
