That is how much water is going past Memphis right now on the Mississippi River.

To put into perspective, that will fill up a football sized swimming pool 44 feet deep in 1 second

That's rolling...

Where are you getting your data? Reason I ask is yesterday around noon I know for certain we had 2.21 million CFS flowing past Memphis. With this flow, the pool would fill up in 1/2 a second or less.

They are most likely going to open both the Bonnet Carre Spillway and the Morganza Spillway. Articles below talk about these items.

The flow of KY Dam this morning is approx. 175,000 cubic feet per second. The Mississippi makes the Tennessee look like a creek.

My mom and dad are in their 70's and 80's and packing everything they own to try and get out before their home goes under.

I hate to hear this for anyone, but especially for elderly people. I am assuming it is the excessive backwater that is impacting them. Whereabouts in Memphis do they reside?

thanks for your concerns. They actually live near the Old River Control Structure nearer to Natchez MS but on the Louisiana side... Presently they won't see a crest there until May 22nd.
