FB rarely sends an adjuster anymore from my experience. Some of their "contractor" friends say they are, but when questioned, no dice. If I want a contractor's opinion, I'll call one.

Farm Bureau since I was 16. My parents have had it as long as I can remember. We haven't had many claims but they were all handled better than we expected. About 10 years ago I hit something underwater and tore up my lower unit. They said bring in some pics and an estimate. They cut me a $1600 check on the spot.

I've had State Farm I was old enough to drive, and my parents have also been insured by State Farm. I suppose they are ok.

Might check out FB, just to see what the fuss is about. \:\)

Use a local insurance broker, and let them shop for you.

Call Amy Boles. She's with Hickman, Johnson, and Simmonds in Knoxville. We had allstate for cars and FB for house and she saved us over 500 yr and our coverage increased and even added an umbrella policy to the house. Luckily, I've never had to file a claim but my father in law has and was processed with no problems. I'll PM her #.

Home and 3 autos with FB. Have had 1 home and 2 auto claims over the past 9 years, and they were all handled quickly and fairly. The home claim was roof damage from a storm - I was given the option of them sending out an adjustor to look at it and handle it or me getting the contractor I wanted to do the work send them their estimate for the work and they would be paid directly. I chose the latter and my contractor had no issues with FB.

I think a lot depends on your local office and the people in it. I have never heard of anyone having any problems with our local office.

I have had FB for 16 years and no problems here. When I got married I added my wife's car on a Friday and she hit a deer 3 days later. The paperwork had'nt even processed and they said carry it to my bodyshop of choice. Repairs were done with no questions asked.
