My son walked the post-college stage last night, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 3.9blahblahblah. He also graduated through the honors program, which required more from him than for a regular student.
This morning he looks at his diploma, and pulls an envelope out of it. Inside is a tiny gold bar sticker of some sort. He says, "What do I do with this, stick it on the diploma somewhere?"
I just stare at him. "Son, how in the world would I know what the heck to do with a Summa Cum Laude bar???" For a graduate, he ain't too bright.
One honor perhaps even more higher than the grade related one: He received more hoots, hollers, airhorns and catcalls than any other graduate all night long, and it was from classmates. Winning the admiration of his peers was one of the best rewards he can take away from his four years.
Told him, he has now completed the transition from Honors Student to Unemployed Person!
