I have been at the YORK Veterans Hospital since 2009 after I got my knees infected . But I am better I just can not walk and stand or care for myself alone in my basement bedroom anymore. I have been trying to get some rehab here at the nursing home , but there isn't much . I have lost over 250 pounds on this diet here though , which helps as I gained a lot of weight just laying around in bed unable to walk or stand .
I see good men die every week here most have families here at the end but out of sight out of mind is how most spend there days here . I have made a lot of friends here and the nursing staff says this is the first time the men have had a group of friends that eat together and talk with each other . I will continue to be a friend to these guys my age and older as long as I am here , even though it hurts when we lose one from time to time. We usually have a memorial service for those old warriors that pass on , they are our greatest generation , they fought Hitler and Commies in Korean.
