Got back yesterday from AL and 1.5 days of fishing. Man, they loved the fluke. We caught over 100 bass with 90% of them hitting the white fluke. Since the goal was to decreaswe the opulation, we kept eveything between 10-17 inches. Had three huge bags of fillets. When I seperated mine out, 4-6 fillets to a vac. bag, I had 11 bags of tremendous eating.
This was the average size, just about 1.75 pounds. Man, my arms and shoulders got a workout. Over half the bass were Tigers or Gorilla/Tiger cross. Talk about fight! We went through four bags of Zoom, flukes. They don't hold up like they use to. Big fish was just over 7. Caught a few on crank baits...sometimes, two at a time.
The other boys also killed a few hogs just walking the roads at daylight and dusk. Hogs have become an epedimic down there and they can't be eradicated.

I now have 29 vac. bags of fillets. We are doing a fish fry in June and will have to feed about 50 people. I think I have it covered. All my fillets are either, eating size bass or big bream.
This is a collection of about 15 families and will include homegrowns, corn on the cobb, vidalia onions, a tremendous squash relish and of course, fried taters. The women folks will supply the desert. We have been doing this every year for a few years. At last year's gathering, I could barely walk and couldn't do the fish frying. I said then, I would be cooking this year although I didn't really belive it.
But py kinkos I vill be dere.

Glad to hear you're still improving!
Sounds like the kind of trip I need to take. Were you at White Oak? And, would you be so kind as to share the squash relish recipe?

Yes to the first, can't to the second. I don't make it, a friend of mine does. I have promised to supply the squash if he will make it all into relish.
BTW- White Oak is closed. There is no staff and it is not open to anyone for fishing or hunting. The only lakes still remaining are the one behind the lodge and the one behind the horse barn. We only fished the one at the lodge.
We would go out for two hours in the morning and two in the afternoon. In that time, we completely filled and ice chest with bass. My wrists were killing me after two hours.
The rest of the time, we sat sat on the porch and drank tea and told lies. I slept like a baby and ate too much deer meat and collard greens and jambalya.
