Were can one find the date of manufactuer on tires? and Is this a coded stamp?

Reason for asking... Have a set of Cooper HT Discoveries I got almost 3 years ago, they have a little over 16K on them and have started to dry rot crack.

Took this up with PepBoys today all they can or will do is pro-rate the tires, don't care for the pro-rate deal on a replacement set for 279$.

A good bit disapointed in them but kinda expected.
Frist words out of the guy was hey you got them 3 yrs ago... ME hold it right there have a set of Mich on another truck which are older than these and they haven't cracked and the set that was on this one before these which were also Mich didn't either and were on longer than these as well.

Gonna try to get with Cooper myself and see what they say.

dot will be on side of tires........starts wit letters DOT.... the last four digits will tell you month/year of manufacture ie: 2407 = twenty fourth week of 2007. tires 5 years or older have no manufacture warranty left on them no matter when you bought them. Now the cracking is it on sidewalls or in between treads? Sidewall wall cracking is usually minor and from stuff people on them( tire black) and other such. In between treads can be more serious and definitely needs to be addressed? How many miles do you have on them? Pro rate the tires is the procedure even from manufacture or a tire store. Manufacture may eat install price for you although, generally about $20 each....good luck

Best set of tires I ever owned were Cooper Discoverer AT's, but this cheap set of Uniroyals migght surpass them. 76,000 miles on a set of All Terrains mounted on a 4WD and still got tread. They don't pull near as well in the mud as the Coopers though. For a non agressive all terrain tire those Coopers would flat pull. Hope you get some satisfaction Tiny. Unless it's changed Cooper is the last 100% American owned American made tire company.

I absolutely agree, Coopers are way better.

And Coopers aren't made by the Frenchies.

Thanks SP. I read that they were all US a few years ago. Didn't know if they were still holding out with all US production.
