Of course we all know about him with his sign at the PETA protest. \:D Classic stuff!

If remember correctly, this happened at the Pre-Vous two years ago...someone may need to verify details. A member on here brought his brother (a non-member) to the Pre-Vous. Forrest told the non-member that there was a $75 fee for non-members to attend the Pre-Vous. Apparently the chap forked out $75 to Forrest, who just walked off with it and didn't say a word. He later gave the $75 back to the non member, saying he just ribbing him. \:D

(Can anyone attest to that?)

I remember playing guitars with him and Nimrod at one of the Pre-Vous. Forrest played some country songs that I hadn't heard since the 80s. "Lucille"..."Ya'll Come Back Saloon"...and a few others I can't remember right now. He even started riffing a lead when we played "Freebird"! Apparently he knew his way around a guitar.

I remember making small talk with him about Civil War trivia...I had the 1st National Confederate Flag (not the rebel flag) Plate on my truck. He told me that he liked the plate...he obviously knew what it was. \:\)

Whenever he posted something, I read it. I remember his run in with the meth-heads at his hunting place...his story about invoking a castle law in Florida (at Disney World, I believe).

He'll be sorely missed.

Twas Spit's buddy that got fleeced for the $75, I believe, but either way, it was absolutely true.

At the last Vous, Turkeyburd kept getting wrong number calls from somewhere out of state, so on the next one Forrest answered Turkeyburd's phone. I only heard one side of the conversation, but it went something like this:

"Hello..... well how bout you tell me what you want with her?.... Yessir, this is her phone, but I'm asking you what you want with her.... Are you the one that's been calling my wife?.... You don't have any business callin my wife, she's a married woman... Well maybe you can give me an address and I'll come up there right now and we'll discuss it... Dang right it's my business, and I'm a big enough fella to take care of it... Well then don't call my wife's phone again!"

Click.

Always wondered if he lost a job for some woman, sent a company spiraling into bankruptcy, or screwed up a multi-million dollar merger. Thanks to that "click", we'll never know.

I never got to meet Jeff but he send me some pm's when he heard I was sick. We had planned to meet up at the recent vous but I ended up too sick to travel. I really regret never getting to meet him. \:\(

Well everyone that was at the last Vous knows what happened to me and Burd but for those that dont know I will do my best to describe my last memory of Jeff.

As you know Jeff is a huge history buff and for some reason NBF Highschool loaned ole Jeff a bugle from the war. I met Burd the day of the pre-Vous to purchase the meat to cook for everyone. After we paid I left the meat 2 bags of charcoal ice and seasonings and stuff in the bed of my truck in the parking lot of the super market while me and Turkyburd met Jeff and Keith at the Mexican restaurant in chapel hill to eat. I guess we told them where we had been because well I will get to that \:\) we all went to the high school so Jeff could return the very old and cool bugle. After the long but cool history lesson me and Burd head back to my truck but not before we stop at the post office.

So I get my truck and follow Burd to the store for beer. We both make our purchase and low and behold when I put my beer in the truck my cooler full of ice was gone! I told Burd that someone stole my cooler of ice. Burd was mad but no big deal let's go cook some food. I get to the park to setup and now I notice the cooler with ice was gone my seasonings were gone along with the charcoal and some other items. Now we can cook for the pre-Vous.

Turkeyburd was now pissed and immediately starts calling around acussing some high school kids of messing with us \:\) then calls the store I was parked at and has the store owner pull videos of the time frame I was parked there. Well at this point Jeff is fueling the fire and tells Burd we have to go and look at these videos so we all jump in the truck and man we just cant wrap our heads around why someone wouldn't steal $200 dollars in food but only the ice and charcoal. At this point we are about to pull in the store and Jeff says "I know what your going to see on the video, two ole men in a white f-150 taking your stuff" \:\) yeah it was Jefff's truck. They some how beat us to the truck and stole our items and we never had a clue. \:\) \:\) \:\)

Jeff and Kieth got us good!

I have fortunately been able to spend some time with Jeff at different times over the last two years and like everyone else he is a stand up guy that I was happy to call a friend. I will never forget the fact that Jeff always had a smile on his face all the time.

RIP JEFF

I remember posting a black-n-white photo of my great grandfather's store in Cleveland,Tn. Jeff was all over that and PM'd me and told me he remembered the store, that led to his further recollection of a newspaper write up about the store and an interview with my great uncle.

Jeff, ran down the local newspaper archives and got me a copy of the newspaper and clipped out the article and mailed it to me!!!

I didn't even ask him to do any of this, he was just excited about doing it. So cool, I still have the oversize padded envelope and the article in my office. I looked at the other day and thought about his kindness for sending it to me. I got to meet him 3 years ago at one of the Vous get togethers.

Well sadly I can only recall seeing him at the last 'vous. It was my first vous and I remember Forrest but I still can't recall if I actually introduced myself or not. I was meeting several Tndeer people in a short time so I didn't get to know many well.

Even with how little I knew him, I still feel a great loss. RIP Mr. Bentley
