I got a bird this morning in Michigan. Perfect morning. Birds were roosted over a creek. I st up my tent and the decoys, A tom, a hen laying, and a feeding hen. The birds flew down on a hill across the swamp from me. 8 hens and 3 toms. The strutted and feed around for 35 minutes and they could see my decoys so I would call every once in a while. They finally started feeding toward me. One of the Tom's came acrros the swamp to me the other birds skirted the edge and came around to me. The Biggest Tom didn't like something and stayed about 50 yards out and then walked off. The hens led the other two in and I shot the biggest one at 17 yards. It was over and hour watching them birds before I got this one!
Double beard...10 inches and 6 3/4 inch. Spurs were 1 1/8 Guessing about 22 pounds....will know for sure in a little while! I am stoked...first Tom of the yearr!
