Well, not to turn this in to a bashing of the Gators, but I did find this interesting, in relation to your perception.
Now, after his second marijuana-related arrest since January and his third bust overall in Gainesville in the last 23 months, Jenkins is a former Florida football player.
When Muschamp announced via Twitter that his program and Jenkins were parting company, he made it sound as if it were a mutual decision reached after a lengthy discussion, but make no mistake. Coach Boom lowered the boom.
It was a shocking development, especially coming from a Florida program that had proved extremely flexible when it came to standards and practices under former coach Urban Meyer.
Under Meyer, the Gators were used to getting busted, but they weren't accustomed to paying a serious price for their mistakes. Not even the repeat offenders. Even when they were punished, the slaps on the hand looked more like manicures.
Muschamp, instead, put his foot down. Or, as Jenkins told the Orlando Sentinel, "He washed his hands of me."

Good for Muschamp!
