Jeff seems to be the same, still hanging in there, still having trouble responding in any way except the occasional hand squeeze. I did tell his family and church friends who were visiting about his Vous thievery, cleaning out a pickup truck of meat and charcoal. As I went on to explain that Forrest and I were like different sides of the same coin, that I was friendly, talented, honest, attractive...
I can't swear it was in response, but a loud grunt came from the man in the bed. Didn't sound like a tone of agreement.
TennesseeRains came on by, and we prayed over/with Jeff before we left.

Thanks for the update, Keith. I continue to pray for Jeff and his family and friends.
I was driving the other day and my thoughts went to Jeff. I realized that he is the reason that I, a yankee, have a new interest and better appreciation of the confederate side of the Civil War. Kind of a silly thought to pop into my mind I guess.

Thanks Keith, I wish I could get down there though I don't know him that well. It takes a real man to repeatedly be there for a family & friend in such a predicament.
I may have seen it a while back, but what kind of cancer does he have?

Yeah, it first cropped up around the colon. Then later it got up around the kidneys; they put a stent in. That was causing a lot of pain. When we were at the Vous roooming together, he'd be sucking in air and moaning off and on through the night. We stayed up talking quite a bit, in part to try and keep him distracted, in part because I felt totally helpless and it was awful.
But for months now he's been chronically up nearly all night every night. Been up worrying over his family, crying for his church, worrying who was gonna take care of them both. Heck, his church runs about 150-170, and they have 7 or 8 folks in the same hospital he's at right now. If I hadn't seen otherwise I'd guess their church was built under power lines or something. Lost their music ministry guy to brain cancer just two years back.
In this last bout with the cancer, it has gone full-bore aggressive, showing up in his liver and other vitals. I hate it. Hate it.
