I talked to a sheriff deputy who was at Tractor Supply getting ropes for potential rescue. He said that if the MS gets 48-50 ft crest, it'll flood downtown...including 201 Poplar. He mentioned that it might flood Millington. :eek

Don't know how true it is, but it's not helping my paranoia any.

Look, it won't flood downtown....PERIOD.

For the water to get that high, it'll have to overtop the levee in West Memphis, then fill 50 miles to the west of that until it reaches Crowley's Ridge near Forrest City.

So for the MS to overtop the Memphis Bluffs, all of east Arkansas will have to be underwater first.

Got to thinking about that later that day. Sure, it'll flood Riverside Drive, it's next to the river. But like you said, it'll take a LOT of water flood over the bluffs.

48' on Memphis gage should get some water in the low spot in front of Tugs restaurant on Island Drive (Harbor Town). I expect residents will still be able to access their houses/apartments there.

The parking lot at the park in front of Tugs is already flooded out. MPD has shut down ALL parking areas at the River Park. Now, they just have to keep all the gawkers out.
