So far, so good on Mud Island.
I have a bunch of Chicken Little neighbors sandbagging the doorways to their houses. If you're going to do it, do it right. Maybe I should bring them a bottle of Aleve.

So far, so good. Royster Creek is way up from this morning. Not at its banks yet, but close. I am hoping this rain slacks off. Even if the water reached the banks, there's a big field and a parking lot it would have to cross to get to the house, and my house is slightly elevated. My guess is that it would drain into the parking lot and go toward the baseball stadium.
I am keeping an eye on it. If need be, I'll come home early from work to check it out and start moving stuff to the attic if I have to. My wife thinks I'm overreacting. I am just trying to be prepared.

I don't think the flooding is going to be a drainage problem, but more of a not draining issue.
We were flooded on May 1st of last year, the same ones that got Nashville and Millington.
This is different and will be an issue of water backing up, rather than a "flash flood" problem. This one will come from the opposite direction of a flash flood.
And to add, we are in Lakeland and there is no flooding here yet.
I would like to hear from the Haywood County folks.

we are doing just fine here, nothing yet that we do not have experience with, Camp David stated it well, flooding of 2011 is so far different from the "flash flooding" of 2010
the finish floor at the Chaney Cabin was 19 inches above the water line this morning at 8:00 am
so far any area away from a natural flood zone has not had any issues as of yet
if you live by the water you will die by the water if you do not respect past history
never say it will "never" happen to me or willl never happen in my area, records are made only to be broken
