I might be getting some bad news later today.

Highway 60 where I live has closed on the other side of Smithland due to the Cumberland River flooding the roadway. And now they are talking the same thing might happen on the other side with the Tennessee River closing that part of Hy 60 to Paducah. That would leave us stranded here.

We live on a high spot and don't ever have water in out diches so I would be fine as long as I have power. But with Mom here it makes me think different. We have more than enough food etc where we can stay safe here for weeks if it ever came to that but I doubt it would last more than 2 or 3 days before Hy 60 opens again. Still I have to make up my mind on what to do with Mom here, she's 82 and has Alzheimer's.

I'm going to go ahead and drive to the bridge and see for myself than get the news later and then decide.

I just got back. The water is just inches from HY 60 where my chiropractor's office is so the odds are they will close that part of Hy 60 tonight or tomorrow.

They are saying it's just a mater of time before the levee at Smithland busts and floods most of the town.

If you've ever seen the movie, "How The West Was Won" Smithland was the setting where the families were waiting to go down the Erie Canal. The "canal" in the background is really the Ohio River and the water is up past the top of the land they were setting on.

Lake City right next to Kentucky Dam is flooded right now. They are just above the Northern entrance of LBL.

Almost all the roads inside LBL are closed at the Trace because all of them are underwater and it's hard to turn around in most of them.

Guys, it's getting bad up here.
