Birds Point New Madrid Floodway Joint Information Center
MG Walsh has directed Col. Reichling and field crews to move the barges across the river to MO and load the pipes with the blasting agent at the BPNM Floodway. Walsh said he will review situation continuously as conditions change. The next steps include priming system with explosive charges and finally activating floodway by artificially breaching levee. The final decision to activate floodway has not been made

I see you track the BPNM-JIC FB page too. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Birds-Poin...120898681323357

I will get to see and hear it all first hand tomorrow as I start attending these daily meetings. I will compile field reports, gage readings, and any other pertinent data on the White River sector, and then report the "critical pieces of information" to Col Reichling and District Leaders for their awareness and consideration. The northern sectors (typically north of Dyersburg) have historically been a lot more "active" with twice the information coming in from the field personnel and others. This is the case mainly because of higher stages on the northern levees for extended amounts of time, more sand boils (it seems anyways), and just more "sensitive conditions" overall when compared with southern sectors. The northern sector's teams have been at it for 9 straight days now and I'd expect us all to be out in the field reporting for another 18-25 days. Tomorrow will be very hectic as all office staff in the Memphis EOC will be inundated with information coming in from all over the Memphis District. Unless something has changed, we will work 7AM-730PM.

Disclaimer: This is not the official position of the Corps. It is my take on the situation based on past experiences and what little I know at this point. I am making this very clear just in case someone wants to copy and paste it in messages/emails/etc that are shared with others.

I just got back from my house on Birdsong Creek and the water is about a foot higher than it got last year on this same weekend when Nashville flooded. It was still rising...

It's never been over the top of the dam, but will get closer than ever this week. Projected to crest at 374 ft. Top of dam is 375.

This is the highest it ever been before the Dam System, it did get higher in 1937, I'm on the Corp email update list for Barkley,
its going to 371.2 tomorrow. With all this rain it could go higher, we got 2" over night in Clarksville, but its rained another 2" today in Cadiz while I was there.
