Our Friend is Dying

I've become increasingly concerned about not hearing back from Jeff/NBForrest over the past week, first through texts, then unreturned calls, and I was fearing the worst. I got a message to his teenage daughter, and she called right back with shot to my heart: "You need to come."
Those of you who had met Jeff prior to the cancer know how much of a difference it made to his appearance, size and robustness over the past year or two. But in the last 2 weeks it has hit him with renewed vengeance, and he's so frail now you wouldn't believe it. He was accepted to M.D. Anderson's cancer center in Houston, but he will never make that trip. The highly aggressive cancer is attacking his vital organs now.
His time is being measured in days, or perhaps hours now. During my time with him today, he was unable to open an eye or indicate that he was even aware that I was there. His family and church family are gathered around him, taking turns talking to him in hopes that he is hearing it, and praying over him.
I'm sick in my heart and my gut for my friend, for his wife, for his teenage daughter who still has high school to complete... his older daughter who just this Wednesday had her house wiped off the map by the tornado. It's horrible how one disease can claim so many healthy victims.
I'll do my best to keep you all posted. Pray on.

This's so sad to hear, no words can convey feelings one has when someone close is in peril. I can only pray for the familys ability to endure this time.

I have feared seeing this post for a while now. My heart is saddened, I'm about to hit my knees and pray for grace anf comfort for Jeff and his family.
