Most stand on's are alittle cheaper than the sit down verison of the same mower.Unless you're cuttting wide open spaces and flat ground they can also be more efficent. I love mine more fun cutting grass and better exerise. Something to think about. http://www.grounds-mag.com/mag/grounds_maintenance_standing_tall/

I got a Bad Boy ZT series 60" cut a few weeks ago. I couldn't be happier. No offense, but I think a lot of the guys here just repeat things they have heard by hearsay as the Gospel truth instead of going by factual info. So just take it all in stride and go do the looking for yourself. I've noticed that whatever people happen to have at the current time, in their eyes at least, is "the best". Look at the decks good; go for the best built one you can find that fits your price range. Engine wise, I know a lot of guys that do commercial mowing for a living and when I was looking for a mower I sought their advice cause they do it all the time and know their stuff. They almost every one said to go for one with the Kohler engines.
The Bad Boy I bought is a residential model and I'm mowing about 3 1/2 acres (just a guess that's conservative). With my 42" cut riding mower it was taking about 6 hours to do everything including weed trimming. The speed of the zero turn and 60" deck cut it down to 1 hour. I have always mowed with Grasshopper and Hustler mowers but my buddy just bought a bad boy and he loves it. I havent used his yet but for the money he loves it.

Either spend the money on a used commerical mower and be done or buy a 3000 dollar new residental mower and spend more over time when everything breaks on it.
I just bought a 2010 Toro Z500 and all i can say is it blows anything i have ever used out of the water. I have ran John Deere, Exmark, Dixie Chopper, and Cub Cadet commerical zero turns and i like the toro the best the exmark is almost the same except you can grease the deck spindles.
