I built a set of these and they worked very well. I left mine very long, and they are a good height for standing shots:

This version may be even cheaper and easier. The stakes are a bit shorter, so if I make a set of these it will be a height for sitting or kneeling:

where did u get the stuff to make them ? think i will try it too
I made the taller set from the scottish guy Youtube. I bought all the stuff at Lowes. The garden stakes come is several sizes; I bought the taller, thicker ones. The rubber O rings came in a set for repairing Delta faucets. Finally, instead of cutting a length of tubing for the center piece, I bought a half inch diameter, 1" long butt coupler (hey guys, keep it clean with your thoughts) from the plumbing department.

thanks jake for the info i am looking forward to making a set .wonder how they would work in a tree stand ? u may have open a can of worms with "butt coupler" though.lol
