Been looking at Folley Island and Isle of Palms.
we stayed on the isle of palms once and had a great time. the fishing was decent off the bridge or beach.

Not sure if you son is into Pirates, but there's a restaurant, Daniel Island (maybe) called Queen Ann's Revenge, the food is so-so, but they have a ton of pirate stuff. Last summer while staying with friends on James Island, we crabbed and fished off a dock. Caught flounder and a few crabs.

Yeah, flounder and crab are on his list of things to do. He'd love the pirate thing too, no question. I know my wife would like the Charleston Market that Silver fox mentioned too.
Thanks again for the info guys, will research all of them more in the next few days when I get some down time.

My family and I used to visit Folly Beach. "Mayberry By the Sea". Very laid-back, with a good pier to fish from. I recommend taking a guided walking tour of Charleston if you like history.
