That pump sprayer looks just like the ones my Granny sprayed DDT on the screen doors of their old house with to fend off flies(they had an old hog and cattle farm). That was throught the 1960s. She was pissed when DDT was taken off the market.

Could be, the area is surrounded by farm land and an old homestead. It appeared water had risen and washed these items onto a piece of higher land. The jug was 6 inches in the dirt and the sprayer was under a large piece of wood piled on some other junk. It is a swampy area and I have found a lot of old jars in this one area. Could have been a dumping ground the farmers used back in the 50-60's thats the date of some of the old truck parts scattered about, and some old rusty farm implements. The new owner said to carry all the junk out I want, he has no use for it.

Chlordane was some good stuff. So good the exterminating companies helped get it taken off the market.
