Going in a house uninvited is a BIG No-NO.

If I catch someone in one of our houses uninvited they get to sit on the front step and wait for the police. YES we press charges. Good way to get shot too.

Too much theft going on to give any leeway. "I was just looking for scrap wood" is the first excuse given as they load your copper pipes and tools in their 82' datsun pick up.

Im always on high alert going into a vacant house. Had a face off years ago with 2 clowns who were "just looking for scrap". One had a pipe in his hands and all I had was a clipboard. Turned out ok but could have been bad.

there is a dumpster in a shopping center across from my house. it belongs to a window /siding company. its full of broken glass! you can hear the guys at the end of the day chunking windows.
they had to put up signs to keep folks out but my guess is they dont get repeat visitors.ouch

when we were kids growing up in southern cal i built my first bike from parts i found in the trash can of the swhinn bike shop on beach blvd in buena park.i collected soda bottles for the refund to pay for everything else.
