Anybody ever changed out the fuel filter on a ford f-150 2001 with the 5.4? Wondering if there is any trouble with it. Gonna do it this weekend but any feedback would be appreciated!

It should be on left(driver) side of the frame well in front of the gas tank. It will be under pressure. The filter has quick clip safety connectors at each end. Clean off both ends so no crud gets in open lines. Remove the safety clips and pull off hoses. have rags and/or bucket to catch any gas coming out(it will drian some, but not that much) Put new one and reverse the process. Start and look for leaks. You will need a tool to remove it, It fits over the steel tube then inserts into the line opening the internal clamps. Tool cost me $8 for a steel one they had plastic disks that would work in various sizes.

Heres a link with step by step instructions:

Then your knuckles get the meat raked off of them.

and of course you'll get gas and chunks of rust and mud in my eyes, lol

wear goggles

I've had to change this filter 3 times in the last year and a half due problems with moisture/water and ethanol gas. (So I think)

LMBO, I can just picture you doing that Stovepipe...........yep, they can be a PITA.

Geezer,

If you have access to an air compressor, first locate the filter, then using a blow gun clean out the ends of the filter housing where the lines connect to remove any and all debris, it makes the use of the tool easier then you're not fighting the crap in the clips.

If not, use a can of brake/carb cleaner to clean out the ends.

And yes, wear safety glasses or a face shield.
