The main factor is who mounted it and what tanning method they used. Then proper care and what you mean by "last". X2

If you want to shine out the hair, you can use any hair sheen product (spray on) that your wife might use. As for shining the horns, we use Pledge.

if they get to lookin bad, just go shoot you a 2.5 year old buck and have the capes swapped
get a euro done on the 2.5

keep them out of the heat and sunshine and they will last a lifetime. dusting them a few times a year will simply help their appearance....

A taxidermist friend of mine recommends dusting the cape with a piece of light bread. He says the natural oils in the bread are good for the mount and aren't excessive.

I've got a old paint brush
it stays on top on my gun safe and all its ever used for is dusting the deer/ducks/pheasant/and bobcat mounts that I have.
If only I'd kill more then it would get used more
:-)

My oldest one was made in 1974 and it looks almost as good as it did when I first picked it up.
