I discovered the battery/steel wool several years ago when I was younger and playing around with batteries and steel wool for some reason...I've always liked making things and playing with fire so I guess it just came together. Also a 6v battery works really well but they're a lot bigger so a 9v is good enough for anyone.

I have always taken two Matchlight Charcoil Briquets with me in a waterproof container. If you have a match to start them, then they will make wet wood burn.

Both the brickette and the matches are highly sensitive to moisture and only have a one time use..............

Learned this one back in high school on one of our unpreapared camping trips and all we had were various chips and beer.

I carry 5 or 6 cotton balls in an old plastic 35mm film canister, packed full of vasoline. For spark, magnesium stick! I do the same, but I still keep a couple bic's too...they're easier (long as they work)

9volt, steel wool, once its burning stick it to the dryer lint and get it going. Then take off your underwear (or pack some, more fun to strip) and catch it on fire. You will have 6-9 foot flames!
