I am looking at going from my trusty .270 to a 7 amg. I am needing some help on a good quality durable gun. I have shot Remington's for years and I am very happy with them. I hunt a lot of different terrain so long distance shots are not uncommon. Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you have been happy with Remington, then why switch. This is sort of a loaded question............you are going to get 101 different answers from guys that like their brand just as well. My 7mmm Rem Mag is a Ruger M77 (old style, tang safety) It has never let me down.
As far as long distance shots, the gun is only as good as the person pulling the trigger. (to an extent) Not looking to open a can of worms on which manufacturer makes the accurate rifle, just a basic statement.

Let's go that route then and stick to the Remington models. Do I need to start looking at certain inch barrels for the 7 mag or what. Do any of you know good places in the Murfreesboro and surrounding areas to go look for a gun too that have good pricing on these?

Barrel length - @ 26-27" for best performance with this round.
As far as purchasing one, I shop around on-line and have mine drop shipped to my local FFL guy I deal with regularly.
I posted a site earlier on another thread, check this place out........

The best value out now in bolt guns is the Weatherby Vanguard. They are sub-moa, nice looking, and built like a tank. There are a million high quality aftermarket stocks for these rifles as well. You can still get one for $399. The bolt is fluted and ported and the trigger is easily adjustable. They also have a mag floorplate for easy unloading. Remington 700's are nice, but you will never find these features on a Remington or that price on a new gun.

Academy sports has the vanguard for $399 right now. Don't know if its their everyday price or on sale. They also have the rem 700 adl for $349.
