I have used it on several old guns I picked up at yard sales, I was impressed with the outcome.
Follow the directions very carefully and make sure "ALL" debris, oil, dirt, etc. is off the parts you are refinishing/bluing.
I suggest wearing latex/rubber gloves during the entire process.
The hardest part is applying the bluing, it is very similar to staining wood, becareful not to get streaks during the application stage, nice even coats.

Awesome! That's exactly what I wanted to hear. I've never done it before, but I think it's going to be fun to mess with.

I like Brownell's Oxpho-blue better also. Seems to give a deeper and more even blue than the BC product. As FulldrawXX75 said, it is vital that you get the metal CLEAN and completely free of fingerprints or oils or you will end up with a blotchy finish.

If you do as good a job as possible can you tell that it has been reblued or is it possible to make one look factory?

They are two different processes, but if you don't rush it and pay great care to the detail of the job, You can get a very good quality job out of a DIY kit.
Factory finishes are under a highly controled environment and "hot blued" not cold blued.

Well, I consider myself a very handy individual..........I would rather learn how to do something than just go and pay to have someone else do it for me.
I am a spounge when it comes to learning things............
Why what would you like to know?????????
