This is what has gotten me worried over the years, all the people who have actually HAD trouble with their Summit stands??
I would have to recommend an Ol Man stand for gun hunting.

My paint was chipping off and I emailed them about it and they said they were going to send me a can of paint. Needless to say, a week later there was a new and updated treestand sitting on my porch, free of charge.

Lone wolf hand climber. Light, quiet and easy to use. Can be up a tree in no time. However, can be tough for a all day sit.

Viper SS for sure. I'm just learning to climb and it has been the best for me because it will go up any tree you hook it on. Not to mention it is so comfortable they you fall asleep in it :-) It comes with an option to add a foot prop bar on it and that helps too!

Make sure you check out the Treewalker Treestands. Made in TN. Grips the tree like a Vise. Very lite. Quite while climbing, No noise while sitting/standing/moving on stand.

I've had Summits, API's, and OlMan stands. They're comparable to Chevy, Ford, and Dodge. They all have their plus's and minuses, just gotta try them and figure out for yourself which one is best suited for your individual needs.

I'm still using the Summit I bought in 1991. They've made great advancements since then and I want a newer model, probably Viper. However, I've had this stand for almost 20 yrs and it is still as sturdy, safe, quiet, and comfortable as it was the day I bought it!

I have a treewalker for sale two big bucks , have extra mesh for seat with it . Bought it 4-5 years ago used it only two times. Getting too old for climbers, use only ladders now.
As the folks on here are saying it is very comfortable and sturdy. Interested send me a pm , I'm in Cadiz but will be in middle Tn or leave it there with son in law, Smyrna .
