Sat out in the rain from 5:00 until 11:00. With the rain coming down, I was able to hunt inside of a buck bedding area. It was one of those mornings where things just don't go right: Misjudged the amount of layers for the approach and got a little sweaty, dropped my backpack from the stand, climbed down and got it, then I dropped my armguard, had to climb down and get it. -had trouble getting my umbrella set up correctly, when I finally did, I took off my rain coat to cool down for a few minutes and add some layers, but then I realized that I had left my dry bag (with my extra layers) open and most of my warm layers had gotten soaked. So, I hung there in my Tree Saddle for a few hours and toughed it out with the shivers.

It stopped raining a little before 10. I waited another hour and had no movement. It was more windy today than expected.

Man, I just hate those days when you do everything wrong getting set up. When its pouring rain, you pay the price for mistakes. Normally, I stick it out until noon or 1 this time of year, but I was cold, wet and Cracker Barrel was calling my name. Oh well, at least I was able to slip in and out without being detected. The bucks seemed to be bedding elsewhere this morning.

Sitting here at my desk jonesin' to get out there, but work wont let me. I reckon the silver lining in this cloud is that I've seen big winds switch directions several times this afternoon, so I'd probably not see anything anyway.

Hunted in Giles Co. from 2:00pm to dark tonight... An area that was covered in does last weekend produced one scrub 4 point at 3:45pm working over a scrape and then a decent 2.5 year old 8-point at the very last minute of legal shooting time.

They both got the "young buck free pass" today.

Didn't get wet during that time, but the WIND was crazy. I believe that had a lot of deer, especially older ones, shut down until things calm down.

Also think most of those does are currently locked away with some of the big boys... I think that time has arrived in the area I'm hunting.
