Just wandering what kind of rut activity people are seeing in the wilson and smith county area. I have seen some light chasing but i think the does are just a a couple days away still. Anyone???

I have seen nothing in Wilson,but a friend killed a nice 8 near the Dekalb line,he was one of 5 bucks chasing a doe.

In Northeastern Smith...
I saw a nice 8 Sunday morning at 10 AM cruising through, and several small bucks pestering does.
Sunday evening at last light I saw a small buck and a dandy buck come out (about 150 yards away) and chase a young doe around along a ridgetop. It was past legal shooting light for me to shoot.
It is definitely picking up. I would guess that the best time to be in the woods in my area is this week.

Im taking off wed and thursday mornings to hunt. Would like to take off both full days but work load wont allow it. Im hoping tomorrow morning will be prime time with this rain moving out around 3 am tomorrow morning.

I saw young bucks cruising last week in Wilson and an orphaned doe last week. Sunday morning I found two dead scrapes so it seems to me that it is on in Wilson. I will be hunting thurs afternoon and all day Friday.

It is starting to heat up. Right now, mostly young bucks doing the running but an occasional "goodun" gets involved.

I hunt Smith Co. (Pleasant Shade), been seeing alot of small bucks cruising the last couple weeks. We haven't seen much chasing going on, I did take a nice 9pt (for the area) last saturday AM chasing a doe.
