I shoot a 7mm SHORT ACTION ULTRA MAG. I can ask anyone and they look at me like I am crazy and wonder if the gun came from outter space and everyone things its a 7mm WSM. I dont know many people who shoot it but I know one thing the bullets are $55 a box. Not all that cheap. Does that sound like too big of a gun for around here? I am in between selling it and buying something else but I kinda like the gun its mostly the high bullets that are killing me and the bullets are so hard to find.

WOW...$55 a box. Thats alot of money for TN deer.I was complaining today about $19 a box of 30-06 shells..If it were me,i'd get rid of it,just because ammo prices..Unless I needed it for Elk or something. But im not saying its too much gun, everyone has a right to use what he or she wants to.Im just saying their are cheaper calibers out there.

I love the 7mm SAUM. Very good round. I reloaded for the one I had so ammo was very inexpensive. I regret getting rid of mine.

Try $70 a box for 348 Winchester! That's why I reload for it. I can cut that to about $1.00 a cartridge from $3.50 a cartridge. It has not taken long to pay for the reloading components with ammunition savings!
If you like your rifle as much as I like my model 71, then you can get into reloading for it and save a lot of money, shoot your rifle more, and learn a helluva lot to boot!

I do like it and I can handle the recoil well. Ha here is a good one. Had to get my mom to go get a box for me and I gave her a used shell to give the person at the counter and she did and they STILL gave the wrong bullets! I went back with her and even asked "Could you not look at the bottom of the shell and get the info off of it?" The guy said NO and even gave me attitude!!! The I got my shell and the wrong ones and showed him the difference and finally he agreed with me and needless to say the manager was standing close by and I havent seen that guy since.

Exactly. A gun is only "too much gun" when it begins to cause flinch problems from recoil.
But cheaper shells is a consideration. The old standby 270, 30-06, 308, etc. are all fine calibers, and you get get shells for $19/box.

I'm not saying I would get rid of it but I'd be looking for something else to use if the bullets were that high.
