My advice, Go spend 30bucks on a cheap "plastic package" set of binos and use them for the next month. Save up til next year and at least go for a set of monarchs. Look at Steiners (sportsmans guide sells these often times) If you will be patient and INVEST in a good set they will be the last ones you ever have to buy. On top of that the Really good brand that you will invest in will back up their product for a lifetime.

Don't overlook Steiners. They are not out of reach pricewise. I would advise going to Bass Pro and testing many pairs out before purchasing some.

Very happy with my Nikons, which were $35 used on eBay. They've lasted me 5 or 6 years so far.

If you have to stay below $100, and you aren't glassing great distances, I recommend the Leupold Yosemite in 6X30. They are very light and gather light very well. Don't get the 8X30 because the exit pupil is too small for low-light performance.
I use the Yosemite 6X30s in bow season and Nikon Monarch 8X40 during gun season.

I like my Nikon Monarchs. I think they are about the best you can get without spending a bunch more.
