I have used the non-balliistic silvertip and love it, but they are hard to find. I have used the ballistic silvertip in my 300 and they are very....explosive, almost made a mess. I now shoot the cheap Federals in my 30-06. I don’t need to blow the opposite shoulder off. I just need them to go where I point them. I refuse to pay over 20 dollars for a box of cartridges.

They are 2 different bullets there are silvertips and the ballistics The silvertips have a Lubalox coating. That's the only difference. Two entirealy differnt bullets... Winchester has had a "Silvertip" bullet for years bascially a power point with a metal tip not plastic, they still offer it in the "Super X" line of ammo. This is not a non coated Nosler Ballistic Tip which is what they use along with the Accubond with coating in there "Surpreme" line of ammo.
The OP asked about the ballistic silvertips. The ballistic silvertips are made by Nosler and is the exact same bullet as a Nosler BT but has a Lubalox coating.

I shoot them out of my 30-06. I love them. Never had one run yet. they will do some damage. They are more money but a box will last me a few years. I pull it out and shoot it before season, usally the first round hits the same place it did the year before so I put it right back in the case. the next time I pull the trigger its at at deer. I dont shoot more than a couple deer so I dont use but a few bullets a year so I dont mind paying the extra money for them. I will not shoot any other bullet out there. I think you will feel the same once you buy them and kill a deer with them

my experience with bst bullets show if they hit bone on impact they shatter. usually lose the deer . no blood trail . switched just a little too late. however if they hit no bone on impact they devestate the animal.

Exact load (130 gr. winchester ballistic silver tip in .270) that I shoot in my T3. Patterns very well. Also shoot the ballistic silver tips in 7mm-08 and .30-06 and they again perform very well. I don't have a great deal of trouble avoiding limbs/brush as I hunt mostly over harvested crop fields.
