May have asked this before, and sorry if I did. When scoring a deer how many circumference measurements do you get on a typical 8 pt? I have always thought that you get 3 on each side, but one site I looked at said you get 4, the last one being between the G3 and tip of main beam? Can anyone answer this question for me? Thanks in advance!

Keep us updated on the score. Looks to easily make the registry with a muzzleloader.

All racks, no matter the number of points, get four circumference measurements per beam.

Got him measured and he grossed 120 3/8, which wont get him in the registry but i am still happy as can be with him, he is my best buck to date in 5 yrs of deer hunting!

Right that is the way the official score is done. I have no idea why they do it that way. Makes no sense to me to duplicate a measurement but that is the way I understand it to be. If they don't have enough points to get 4 separate circumference measurements then it shouldn't be added IMO. Guess can't change the rules now.

I wish we could. I would do away with net scores altogether. Dumbest thing I've ever heard of.

I agree, nets are for fish. I like gross scores because it is a true representation of the deer's overall antler size.

the great thing about scoring your rack yourself, is that you can always go back and remeasure and FIND some more inches, especially if someone's deer gets close to what yours scores...lol.

the man with the pen has the power....lol.

congrats on a nice deer.....!

Yep, the net concept stinks.
