New Hunter Scores First Buck

This is his second year hunting and this is his first buck. He got a doe last year, the first time on stand. This year he wanted to wait on a buck, and got this guy yesterday morning.
He shot the deer at 20 yards and hit him perfectly. As he is new to this, we told him to make sure that he didn't reload his muzzleloader until he watched exactly what the deer did after the shot, and exactly where it went. He explained it to me as "Had a perfect shot, when the smoke cleared the deer was still standing there. He turned, walked up the logging road and dissapeared. I knew I couldn't have missed, but he acted like he was fine."
Brother met him at the stand, there was no blood or any sign that the deer had been hit. They followed the fresh tracks in the mud to where the deer went out of sight. Never found a drop of blood, but the tracks lead them straight to the deer.
He has been so excited the past two years when he has gotten a doe, and now a buck. All he wants to do is learn more about deer and deer hunting. He learned a valuble lesson on this hunt. Never give up on a deer that you have shot at until you have searched the world over to find it.

That's awesome! 
I've given up on some in the past that I thought I missed because of the lack of a blood trail and I wonder from time to time if this may have been the case. Good for him!
