Im sitting here with disgust,in myself and not my equipment..Im not gonna blame the rifle,nor the bullet,because I know it does the job it was intended for because I've killed other deer with it and it has never let me down. I was hunting the powerline that I hunted friday, this morning..Right after shooting light,big doe comes out,about 50yds,I raise my muzzleloader up,put the crosshairs on her front shoulder and let the smoke fly,I had a good rest,and felt good about the shot,she was slightly quartering to me.
So the smoke flys,and I don't have the slightest idea which way she went,all I knew was that it wasn't a bang flop..So I listen,and it sounded like I hard some limbs breaking on the right side of the power line,the way she was crossing.So I ease over to where she was standing and I found a pinch of grey hair.I searched for over an hour and a half looking for blood,never found the first drop.I am soaked to the bone,running through that thicket.I've never lost a deer with a firearm..Im not gonna say I put a perfect shot on her like some,because we all know if I had of,she would be hanging from the tree in the back yard..Like I said,some blame the bullet they are shooting or something else,but I will not,because I know it works,im hopeing that I just grazed her and she is alieve.I guess I'll never know if I put a bad shot on her or not.I could have pulled the gun just a little,but i had a solid rest..I hate this feeling,almost makes you hate deer hunting at times like this..Supposed to rain all day tomorrow,so I'll let it wash my scent away from the area and give it another try wednesday morning..

yep. if you hunt long enough, you WILL eventually lose one. sucks but it happens.

I bet you put a good shot on her and she didn't bleed for some reason.I have had several the last few years that didn't bleed.it sucks but you did what you could do to find the deer.Its hard when you don't have a blood trail and you have to walk up on the deer to find it.
