That is why we X ropes off the top around the tree and tie to ladder at head high from ground.

You could hunt without rachets but we still rachet them but no worry about stand twisting or coming off tree when you release them.

300lb or not, I'm still going up a tree if I can, just cause I'm a big guy doesn't mean I'm not able to do the same things others can

If you walked away just being sore to show for it consider yourself lucky and heed that warning. Use some type of safety device from the first step off the ground until you return to the ground. "I should have" doesn't cut it once the damage is done.
