I first thought that this deer might of had bad genetics but the bullet might of explain why it was just a very large 4 pt....

Wht makes you assume it was a poacher's bullet?

I don't know any deer hunters that use a 22 cal. Give me a break, common sense comes into play..... Gee weez...

I do all the time and perfectly legal. Maybe you need to use some common sense and realize every hunter loses a deer sometimes, why does it always have to be a poacher.

There are several legal 22 cal rounds.
Not until this year!!

Illegal weapon (caliber) + Shot deer = poacher!!!

You are wrong. Did you read the regs last year?

I skinned a 8pt this weekend and it had a old hole in its ham. The skin had healed around it. I guess this is more common than you expect.

You are the first deer hunter that I have ever met that legally hunts deer with a 22 cal. weapon... I have been hunting for over 30 yrs... I'm wondering if its ethical to hunt deer with a 22 cal. Not much margin for error but I guess you could always tell us what a great shot you are...

You must not know many deer hunters. Both .223 and 22-250 are legal 22 cal rounds. There are tons more, if you would like a list of all legal 22 cal rounds I'm sure I'll be able to compile a list. I probably own half of them.

When I'm talking about 22 cal. I'm talking about a 20 grain bullet.... Not compared to a much bigger grain like the .223- or 22-250...

I haven't seen many 20 grain bullets for the 22cal lr. Most are 33 to 46 grains. Maybe a 22 short?
