Rut and deer report from Tenn/Illinois/Ohio

I spent the previous two weeks in Illinois except on week-ends. I have close friends still there. I also have good friends in Ohio this week while there are also several friends in Middle and East Tennessee. All together, there are 15 "stump sitters" scattered across 3 states. Everyone reports deer sightings VERY LOW. Movement is POOR. The rut is SLOW. Chasing at a minimum.
Everwhere is DRY. VERY dry. Mast crop is good to better than good in all places.
We are all experienced hunters. Old and graying. Several of us have managed success but it has been TOUGH hunting conditions. The dry weather makes hot stands cool off quick because of scent conditions.
I believe rain and cooler temps will be greatly enjoyed. We'll see.

I just got back from Ohio and it is DRY. We've got 2 ponds on the farm I hunt, and they are both several feet low. We will probably loose all the fish in them this winter. I didn't see near the chasing or dead deer on the road while driving. I didn't spend much time in the stand, because my hunt was pretty short, and I shot my buck early. It was the first buck that was chasing that I saw. I just got lucky and he took a breather while broadside, 15 yards from my stand.
They were supposed to get rain and cooler temps last night. Some buddies were up the week before last and they said they had a good hunt before the tekps warmed up, but I haven't gotten all the details yet.
