Well i Had two does come down the ridge at daylight. About 10 min. Later I hear a grunt so I turn my "can" call over three times and here he came. Grunting every step he took ...I scope him to see what he was I think it's a spike and put my muzzeloader down. So I grunted back a couple times and he runs up closer I scope him again and what I tought were spikes were really brow tines ( big 8 or 10) I took what I thought was a good clear shot but looking now it seems there were a million limbs in the way after I shot. I waited a while went to look and found nothing no hair no blood nothing ..i don't know what happened but its made me sick!

if you feel good about the shot you have to keep looking. I did the same thing last week with the doe and if I had not found her on the way out I would have thought I missed . look to the point there's no doubt in your mind that you missed.

Yeap.... I have shot a couple of deer with the ole MZ and they didn't leave any blood... I learned the hard way on one when I walked up on her remains a couple days later....

You know, I had the exact experience today only it was 2 does.
I shot, it seemed like a great shot to me. The shot surprised me and I was on her boiler room when the ML went bang, but no deer, and no blood! Looked for 1 and a half hours past dark. While looking did a 500 yard circle search, still nothing. Made me sick, and at only 80 yards or so!
Don't feel bad, just keep looking if you think you made a great shot. I'm getting up bright and early to go look some more.
Good luck in your search!

I did same thing saturday morning. 75 yards tight window but was on deer didn't see all the little limbs and what not through my scope. I looked for 1 1/2 hrs then my dad came and helped look no blood no nothing I looked all over the place guess I hit a limb or something to knock bullet off. I wanted to make sure I didn't hit it.

get over it- it happens
I made the "same shot" Friday. Probably a 130 class deer. He went down,(knocked him off his feet) let out a big grunt as he laid there and thrashed for a few seconds. I was feeling really good for a few seconds. It was about 100 yards shot.
I reloaded, as I fiddled with ramrod and a new cap, he stood up and walked off into a thicket with his girlfriend. I only found about 1/2 dozen big drops of blood. Searched for 2 hours, nothing more. I could not get a second shot, he was quartered away and heading into some super thick broomsticks.
easy come-easy go.
Who can say.
