We experienced some of the highest deer and especially buck sighting rates we've ever had, even though the deer population is at its lowest point in many years. How do you know that the population is lower than it has been in years? Just wondering. I always seem to see them in the woods and just about anywhere in Mid TN. well here the trails are gone, tracks and all other sighn lowest its ever been since i can remember, even the major trails crossing the roads to acorn ridges that have been wore slick for years are empty of tracks, there isnt a third of the deer here now that there was in the mid 90's, we still have not recovered from 07

Seeing lots of deer, mostly first and last couple hours of light, but also chasing during the day for the past week or so.

Continuous camera censuses run since 1999. Our local population peaked in '06, just before the EHD outbreak. The population has not rebounded since then. Plus, with a poor acorn crop in my immediate area, few deer are being drawn to the hardwoods from nearby bottomlands (not seeing as many seasonal range-shifters moving into the hardwoods after the crops were harvested).

Only seen 7 deer since the start of bow season...6 bucks and 1 doe. In a normal season, sighting should be around 50 to 60
