I like it cold but the mid to low twentys seems to slow deer movement as much as the 80's do. I think its better the day before a cold front and the day after the front, not really the day of the first really cold temps. I like those later morning hours on a really cold day.

1) Yes, colder temperature days produce greater daylight deer sightings when compared to warmer days. (this has been my experience)
2) Possibly, lows in the teens and low 20s have produced greater deer sightings later in the morning after the frost burns off and in the afternoon. (once again, my experience)
3) My personal preference is 30/55 for temperature.

I have been waiting for you to weigh in here.
What do you think accounts for the lull in between 25 and 35?
My guess would be that below 25 the deer move to stay warm. The lull they are content to stay bedded until the sun comes up, warming to above freezing. What do you think?

What do you think about my theory.
In my experience, when it is very cold (like 27 like it was last weekend)... I very rarely see deer at daylight.
In fact, on Sunday morning, I didn't see deer until 9:30 (which the day before would have been 10:30 due to the time change). The temp was about 45 when I shot them.
I honestly think below a certain temp, they need to move around to stay warm. When its still very cold, but they can maintain warmth without moving, they wait for it to get into a comfortable range (35-45 degrees).

Oddly my observation has been that between 25-35 is the magic range. when it gets super cold they shut down.

in my opion ive seen the most movement in temps from 30-50 and it relly didnt matter on time of day

I think the big cold front that came thru Fri had deer feeding late. I saw deer feeding as late as 8-8:30. Whenever I see deer moving like this I never see deer first thing in the morning. It seems they move more later in the day, and late evening. I took a doe at last light on opening day and saw over 16 deer in a 30 min time frame. Im with diehard hunter on this one if a front is moving in deer move a lot more during this time. The "experts" believe the barometric pressure change is what makes deer move during this time. Ive only killed 1 or 2 deer in really cold weather, lower than freezing at first light. I saw 10 deer this evening as I was leaving my stand feeding in fields and it was what 60-65 degrees out at dark?
