I have been tracking my deer sightings over the past few seasons. While looking over the past three years, I noticed that I have seen more deer from opening day of archery to October 15 and from December 16 to the close of the season. If I go by moon phases, I have seen the most deer beginning with the 3rd full moon of the season and second most between the second and third full moons. I guess I say all that to make this point: apparently the heart of the rut doesn't kick in here where I hunt until the last full moon of the calendar year or the last quarter of deer season. I have seen several deer already this season, but based on the previous info. I think my best days this season are at least two weeks away.

I don't keep as detailed of a log as you, but I feel the farm I hunt is about the same way. My best hunting is definitely the second rifle season. Second best is the last week of Oct. thru the first week of Nov.

Looks like we are the only two interested in this topic! I have to keep records to jog my memory and keep me interested and reminded of why I hunt where I do.

I keep records. I used to have them in a notebook, since 2004 I have used an excel spreadsheet.

I use the Excel as well. It helps me keep the info more organized when I need to look for patterns, etc. I also keep a separate journal with specifics about each hunt and other sightings and such.
