If the statewide deer herd is as good or as close to Wilson and surrounding Counties, TN must have one of the healthiest deer herds in the country and perhaps one of the best in terms of sex and age ratios.
Good Job TWRA. All it took was a year with good weather and good mast to show us what we have.
Don't change a dadgummed thing! It is as perfect as you are going to get it outside private land.

Pretty much my sentiments over here in Mongomery Co. Virginia, if anything we may need a little more libreral season but it's pretty dang good!

I disagree and think there WILL need to be some tweaking in the future.
The state as a whole is managed very well, and the herd is very healthy as a whole.
However, there are counties which are mismanaged (by the hunters, not TWRA) and the current regulations are not resulting in appropriate or healthy harvests.
For example, in my county, 100% of the bucks aged so far at the check in stations this year have been yearlings. I'm sure the harvested age structure will improve with the rut, but still, traditionally, yearlings have comprised around 2/3 of the entire buck harvest in years past.

I guarantee it aint right everywhere, but most Tennessee deer hunters have it pretty good. Our agency will continue to work on the areas that are still in need of improvement. Some of those may improve, but I promise you there will be some that can't be improved no matter what we do. Too many hunters and too few deer. We'll continue to try to strike the balance as best we can.

I have hunted many diffrent places in Tennesse, and from my observation, there are far more does than bucks. I think the ratio as far as buck to doe is not that good !
Just because you don't see them don't mean they aren't there. A Pre Season ratio worse than 3 to 1 is all but biologically impossible in an established deer herd. You may not be hunting the areas where the bucks travel.
