Report from local locker plant:
Muzzleloader kill way up, may double last year and weights soar. Several fd over 170 and four top 200. No real difference in atnler size but a lot more bucks in the kill that are just "good" bucks.
He credits (and he is pretty knowledgeable, ehd from a year or so ago and liberal doe limits and good weather with a good mast crop this year.

I went to one Monday and they had deer piled in the coolers like crazy. I said something about it and he said he could only skin about a 100 a day! So I agree, I think they are getting the heck killed out of them!

Last Sat. morning, saw 8 does and one nice 10pt. which was killed, well over 100 turkeys and a bobcat that had the prettiest color I have ever seen. Very dark grey with lots of black spots. Little fellow.
Two guys hunting with me saw, between them, 41 does, 2 killed and several smaller bucks, I guess 6 or 8 and again, over 100 turkeys and we all saw the same bobcat, mousing along the field edge.
They went again this morning and I haven't heard back yet. I told them to kill me a doe and I expect they will.
Afew of the turkeys and the 10-pt.
I think we have a pretty healthy wildlife population.

You let me know if you need help with that, I will gladly bring you a deer for the freezer..... maybe even two.... if I am that lucky.

Thanks Grizz, I just put 30# in the freezer and if they kill one, that will get me through the year.
The guy that killed the 10-pt, Carrol Whitener will keep me in meat if I run low but thanks again.

They are moving pretty darn good over here{Va} Hunted for 1-1/2 hours this am-saw 16 deer of which 7 were involved in chasing!
